I am a self-proclaimed dance fanatic! The music, the artistry, the movement, the creativity, the performance, the shapes, the stage, the lights, the costumes, the bling, the shoes… you name it, I LIVE FOR IT! I love when a dance gives me goosebumps or all the feels!
I was classically trained in ballet and jazz from the age of 3 through sophomore year in high school at Tinda Holland School of Dance and later at Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance. I stopped dance to focus on playing varsity soccer and volleyball. I have a BA Psychology degree and have had a successful career in corporate marketing and events in high-tech industry for Fortune 100 companies for over 27 years.
I have an amazing and supportive husband with whom together we have two grown daughters who are both very successful. Our oldest is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and CSCS Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and is pursuing her Masters in Exercise Science at the University of Tampa. She played travel soccer her entire life and played D1 and D3 soccer in college. Our youngest is a talented and versatile dancer who had a fantastic experience as a competitive dancer and is pursuing a BFA Commercial Dance at Pace University in New York City. Her dream is to become a professional dancer and choreographer.
I have been a dance mom for 15+ years and 11 of those years were as a competition dance mom. At the age of nine my dancer told me she wanted to become a professional dancer. As a full-time professional in corporate America, I had no idea what a career in dance entailed. I had so many questions… What is a professional dancer lifestyle like? What happens to a dancer’s career when they get injured and can’t dance anymore, what then? Can you get a college degree in dance? Are there college dance scholarships? Does my child need a college degree to become a professional dancer? Can my child actually make a living in the dance industry? I just had no clue where to get information about how to help and support her achieve her dreams, or even what the dance career options were.
When researching the internet for career pathways for professional dancers, there was a massive gap of information available. I came up with endless Google searches came up with thousands of different options but the information wasn't tailored to my daughter's specific interests. In a nutshell, the information is available and unlimited, but it is scattered, frustrating to navigate, and hard to find. I think many dance parents of pre-professional dancers can relate and feel this pain on a regular basis.
I am a tech head, data geek and researcher. I love technology and how easy and efficient it can make our lives. I am passionate about helping others - especially dancers and the dance industry!
After burning out at the end of 2022, I decided to leave corporate America and take the time to regenerate. During that time, I reflected on my true passion, skills and expertise, and how I can truly make a difference in the world. And ProDanceSource is born!
While I may not be an "expert" in dance or the dance industry, I am a huge dance supporter (hence PRO Dance Mom)! I am passionate about curating and providing dance information, tools and resources to pre-professional dancers and their parents; giving dance professionals a platform to showcase their talents, find new opportunities, and access helpful resources; and offering a platform for dance service providers to market their services and reach a broader dance audience.
Ultimately, together, we can help dancers and the dance industry thrive!
